The Initial Employment Training (IET) Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps (RAAOC) Operator Petroleum Course is delivered across four months, capturing trainees straight from Kapooka, and covers a range of theory and practical curriculum.
One of the highlights is the practical firefighting serials performed on the purpose-built firefighting training facility, where trainees learn to work effectively as a team to extinguish a fuel fire.
Another highlight is the IET’s first exercise, which will fall either before or after their IET course. Exercise Nautical Overland Petros in Cowley Beach, Queensland, practices Petroleum Operators to deliver fuel from ship up several kilometres from the shore through a pipeline and into bladders.
The IET RAAOC Operator Petroleum Course is delivered by the Army School of Ordnance (ASO), located at Gaza Ridge Barracks, Bandiana, a Training Establishment under the Army Logistic Training Centre.

Training Establishments like ASO are part of the Land Domain Training System, which efficiently and deliberately sees trainees simultaneously build and blend skills across their trade and those required of a Defence member – preparing every member for the realities of war.
