DESCRIPTION
Sam is a barber at Cut and Grind and is about to get a skin fade by the other Barber, Sammy.

Sam is growing out the top so he wants to get the sides cleaned up with a mid skin fade and a bit of a drop in the front. First, since Sam was wearing a hat Sammy will spray his head down with water to get a good canvas to work with.

Starts with a zero quite low and blend it into the beard with we aren’t trimming today, just lining up to the hair cut. Because Sam has the color on top we have a bit of a wedge but with the fade underneath it creates a cool shadow.

Sammy starts with a 1.5 guard- open then sets the zero line with the trimmers and does this quite low. He does one side at a time and then the back. After he cleans up the zero with the electric razor he goes back over it plus a half inch with the trimmers again. The zero is next to bump it up, then .5 to almost create a new line but maintains a scooping/flicking motion to keep the blending even. The 2.5 is next to continue flicking that line. Now a 1 guard completely open, then open mid closed. The back and forth with the continuous flicking/scooping motion prevents a new line from forming.

If there are any dark patches Sammy would use the scissors and cut into the hair to thin those out.

Once the sides are perfect he does the back. This allows him to see the angles evenly. Again it’s a zero- 1.5 guard open, 2.5 and then the scissors to omit any dark patches.

The trimmers set the line on the sideburns and blend into the beard. Sammy stars at the bottom of the ear with a 1 guard mid closed and blends the sideburns into the fade. He finishes this cut and trim off with a brand new straight razor cheek clean up.

The Style
Sam has a few cool styling options with this cut to wear it down with the wedge and harsh line or pushed forward which breaks the line up.
