Digital devices and wireless technology are becoming common place in Australian schools.
Yet, according to a recent study (UNSW, 2019) over 80 per cent of teachers in Australia think digital devices are a growing distraction to students. Three of five teachers believe there has been a clear decrease in students’ readiness to learn at school; and, in 2019, Australia scored its lowest ever results in the global reading, mathematics and science tests.
The adverse health effects on child development associated with the prolonged use of digital devices and exposure to wireless technology is well established.

Dr Redmayne's research focuses on children's learning, behaviour & their use of digital technologies. She believes that principals, teachers and parents should understand wireless technology enough to be able to make informed decisions about using it. With particular attention to microwaves/radio-frequencies typical of electronic devices and also non-EMF effects on child development, addiction and mental health related to screen-time.

Tim Sawyer

Tim is an Adelaide-based Building Geobiologist, university lecturer and radiation expert. He has qualifications in Nuclear Medicine which involves the study of radiation safety and protection. Combined with over 25 years experience in education Tim has a sound understanding of the effects of radiation on health.
