‎Alexandra Anna Daddario was born on March 16, 1986, in New York City. She grew up on the Upper East Side to a family that blends Italian, Irish, English, and Slovak roots. Her father, Richard Daddario, is a former prosecutor and NYPD counter‑terrorism chief; her mother, Christina, is a lawyer. Her brother Matthew and sister Catharine are also actors, and her grandfather Emilio Q. Daddario served as a U.S. congressman.

‎She decided to become an actress at age 11 and landed her first TV role at 16 as Laurie Lewis on the daytime soap _All My Children_.
