The Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) announced that troopers will begin accepting Montana Mobile IDs, along with other states’ mobile driver’s licenses, during traffic stops.

The move expands how motorists can present identification, offering what officials describe as an easy, secure, and private alternative to a physical driver’s license.

The change follows the Montana Motor Vehicle Division’s launch of Mobile ID's in August 2025, and can be used at TSA checkpoints.
