Resource Optimization Initiative (ROI) www.roi-online.org is an Indian organization that uses concepts and tools of industrial ecology to recommend and promote strategies for sustainable management of critical resources. This video describes the concepts and tools that we use in our work.

The main strength of ROI is in its use of clear and effective research methodology to provide insightful information about current practices and effective solutions for converting currently unsustainable practices to sustainable ones.

Our work has provided innovative solutions that help (i) minimize wastage of critical resources such as water and energy, and (ii) clean up the environment in developing countries.

ROI is financially supported through grants from foundations, institutions, universities and government bodies. Initial core funding for ROI has come from the State of Geneva, through a Swiss non-profit organization FIDEST and the Charles Leopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Individual projects have been supported by Center for Industrial Ecology, Yale University, USA; Institute for Communication and Analysis of Sciences and Technologies (ICAST), Geneva, Switzerland; University of Lausanne, Switzerland; Foundation for MSME Clusters, New Delhi, India; Confederation of Indian Industry; Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), India and Institute for Financial Management and Research, Chennai, India.
