The UN is marking the 50th anniversary the International Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Racial Discrimination, adopted five decades ago. ICERD has been described as the legal moral standard in the fight against racism.

But despite these milestones, racism continues to plague societies. The UN Committee that is the custodian of the treaty continues to seek countries to combat racism and all forms of discrimination.
