AMABO roof tiles are an innovation for eco-sustainable roofs. They are not like clay tiles. They are made out of 70 percent sand and 30 percent recycled plastic garbage from the streets of Cameroon. The polymere sand composition melts and is pressed in order to form roof tiles that are shatterproof. With support and funding of the Austrian development aid, money from a family trust and a private investor AMABO has become reality. The idea came from a cab driver in Austria (a born Cameroonian) who wanted to clean his home country. AMABO brings hope and jobs to young people in a crisis zone.
