This great epic poem, written by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri in the early 14th century, chronicles the spiritual pilgrimage of the lost narrator (Dante) as he is guided through Hell (Inferno) and Purgatory (Purgatorio) by the Roman poet Virgil, and then led to the highest realm, Paradise (Paradiso), by his beloved Beatrice.

The essence of this thought is the literary personification of the process by which humanity witnesses the sins committed and the consequent divine, righteous judgment, undergoes atonement and purification, and ultimately achieves salvation by encountering God, the ultimate love and wisdom. Through this journey, Dante compiled all the knowledge of the medieval Christian worldview, criticized the corrupt reality of his time, and simultaneously laid the foundation for modern Italian by writing the work in the Tuscan dialect. Ultimately, The Divine Comedy became the greatest religious and philosophical landmark in Western literature, presenting the path to salvation through humanity's spiritual maturity.
