Jake's Theme (Extended) - AW Dual Strike

Описание к видео Jake's Theme (Extended) - AW Dual Strike

Jake, the more divisive of the Advance Wars main leads. At least in the terms of the NA localization, his hip lingo annoys some. While I find it a weird choice, I don't have a problem with Jake. He's got headphones, grooving to music while he battles with tanks. And pretty good music if this is any indication.

While in the middle of making this, I watched one video that showed some turntable techniques. And listening to that made me realize that the turntable plays in this track more than I first noticed. While not as prominent as the guitar, it's still pretty cool. And the overall vibe of the track is just awesome. Listening to this makes me feel like I'm ready to lay a beat down on my opponents in style! (Ah ha, puns! Another point for Jake!) Something I also noticed while looping this is that there's actually some subtle strings getting plucked in the 2nd chorus starting at 00:59. It's a little nuance that I think shows some gentleness befitting of Jake. He's kind, caring about his land, his people, and even for the safety of former enemies. Even the man that absolutely ruined his homeland he only does what's necessary to punish him.

Jake's one of the few COs to have indirect range increase with his COPs. It's an interesting idea for a CO that isn't an indirect specialist, and one that's more fond of tanks. Can make it easier for his units to be able to hit things while managing to stay on Plains. While I don't him strong-strong, he's pretty fun. And makes sense to not make him too strong considering that you get from the beginning. Then again...you also get Rachel and Sasha pretty early. Oh well. shrug

Find it odd how Jake and Sasha only have 105% for Dual Strikes considering they get along well and have some screentime in the main story. That's more than what Jake and Jess have. Then again, having bonding moments together doesn't necessarily mean good synergy in battle styles. Dual Striking with Jake and Jess is much more fun.

What's also been fun is using Jake in AW By Web. Been playing that after watching some game analysis videos by channels like CO Select (IamSnitch) and dpsi duck. Snitch is pretty good at illustrating fundamentals, which has helped orient me into the PvP scene. Definitely recommend if you have any interest in that.

Okay, back to Jake in AWBW. He's considered "low tier", so there are matches where higher tier COs like Olaf or Von Bolt aren't allowed. Com Towers are also common on PvP maps, so the small Plains boost of 10% becomes 20%. And that can be significant in the right circumstances. I rather like having that power boost, and having to be more aware of terrain when positioning can be fun!

I think me being fine with Jake is why I don't mind the localization of Osakabehime in FGO. I did consider making a segment where both of them would talk with their respective modern lingo, but...even thinking of how I'd write that gives me a headache. In case you couldn't tell, I'm not exactly familiar with talking like that! So, with the spur-of-the-moment AWBW recording added on, I decided that was enough work.
