Metallic stearates are widely used as stabilizers for plastics, lubricants, halogen-absorbers, lubricating grease intensifiers, textile waterproof agents, paint flatting agents, and tablet releasing agents.

The Fusion process has been established and has replaced the precipitation process for the manufacture of metallic stearates such as Zinc, Calcium, and Magnesium due to its distinct advantages and higher productivity.

Stearic acid + Zinc Oxide ➔ Zinc Stearate + Water

Stearic acid + Calcium Oxide ➔ CalciumStearate + Water

During the fusion process, metal oxides or hydroxides and stearic acid are heated under pressure with continual stirring in a Plough Share Mixer Reactor, beyond the melting point of the metallic stearate product. As the melting point of most metallic stearates is higher than 100 °C, the water resulting from the reaction escapes as steam. Therefore, a drying step is unnecessary.

A variety of physical forms can be produced from this process, depending on the melting range of the final product.

A very high degree of purity is achievable with the fusion process.

The Plough Share Mixer Reactor can also be used for the manufacture of Tri Basic Lead Sulphate (TBLS)
The displayed equipment is Plough Share Mixer model PSM-1000, with a working capacity of approximately 1000 Liters.

Mixer contact parts are manufactured from Stainless Steel Gr. 316 while non-contact parts are manufactured from Carbon Steel Material confirming to IS 2062.

The jacket is provided on a mixer container, for heating of product mass. The Mixer is powered by 30 KW / 40 HP Squirrel Cage Geared Induction Motor of reputable make.

Two number chopper assemblies, each powered by 7.5 KW/ 10 HP, 2900 RPM Squirrel Cage Induction motor of reputable Make, are provided.

Discharge is through the pneumatically operated flap-type discharge valve.
