Welcome to another episode of Screamin' Soccer! In this episode, we dive into the changes made for the US Cup and bring up ideas for how we can save the competition by making it more exciting and impactful.

The new structure includes eight MLS clubs such as Houston Dynamo FC and the top seven ranked US-based teams according to the 2023 MLS Supporters’ Shield standings, as well as 11 MLS NEXT Pro teams, including nine MLS affiliates and two independent clubs.

Everyone remembers last year's Leagues Cup, which was Messi's thrilling introduction to United States soccer with Inter Miami. This new Cup was one of the reasons for the changes made, as congested schedules turned out to be a problem. Messi brought us unforgettable moments as he went on to win the whole thing. But even with the success of Leagues Cup, maybe we didn't need to change the Open Cup in this way? For the US Cup to truly thrive, the solution could be that all MLS teams have the option to choose which cups they participate in, similar to the Premier League and how they have multiple cups.
