'60s PAN AM AMERiCA'S NATURAL WONDERS TRAVELOGUE NIAGARA FALLS NATIONAL PARKS GRAND CANYON 62004

Made for viewers in the United Kingdom, this late 1960s color film about the U.S National Parks is one of a series of Pan Am New Horizons travelogues. The film opens with multiple views over Niagara Falls, with close-ups of the rushing white water (:23-1:02). A Pan Am Jet Clipper arrives, is guided by the marshaller, and passengers disembark (1:03-1:29). A view through an automobile tunnel hole is shown at Glacier National Park. Water tumbles down a waterfall of steps as children play in the nearby snow and the peaks are shown (1:30-1:55). A bear walks down the middle of the highway and comes over to a 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Greenbrier 9-Passenger Van and is seen through the windshield of another car across the highway (1:57-2:12). People on horseback ride through the forest (2:13-2:30). The International Boundary marker with Canada is shown (2:32). Rushing streams tumble over rocks (2:33-2:45). The camera flies over a flock of birds flying over the Everglades (2:55-3:02). Close-ups of blooming cactus flowers are shown (3:03-3:08). A park sign cautions against feeding alligators, which are shown walking (3:09-3:24). People use concrete park walkways and a ranger uses binoculars to see a red-tailed hawk, an Anhinga, and white chicks in a nest (3:25-3:48). A ranger moves quickly through the marsh in an airboat (3:49-4:25). A 1967 Dodge D200 Camper Special enters Yellowstone National Park (4:26-4:36). Bacon is cooked in a heavy cast iron skillet and the family eats at a picnic table that has a 1960s aluminum percolator coffee pot (4:44-4:59). A moose grazes, a brown grizzly bear walks on a log, and two black bear cubs play by a secured park trash can. One cub walks awhile on its hind legs begging for food, filmed by a woman with a handheld 16mm film movie camera, and another cub backs down a tree. Adults and cubs beg at a car window (5:00-5:33). Hot springs boil in a pool and the Old Faithful geyser blows (5:39-6:15). A wide waterfall creates mist at its bottom, and rushing water at its top moves past the camera (6:16-6:33). The camera scans the light and dark shadows of the sides of the Grand Canyon, and a couple looks at the view (6:35-7:14). Another couple feeds squirrels and chipmunks (7:15-7:31). Hopi Indians in traditional dance clothing perform an Eagle Dance and another colorful dance (7:33-8:21). Sunset ends the film.
