Initially believing it was meant for one of her clients, Micheroni quickly realized that the email was addressed specifically to her. She found the tone of the message not only alarming but also unprofessional and threatening. Given her profession, her contact information is often listed on immigration documents, which may have contributed to the error. The Department of Homeland Security later acknowledged that some such emails might have been mistakenly sent to the wrong recipients. While Micheroni has decided not to pursue legal action, she described the incident as deeply troubling. Her experience has raised broader concerns about the reliability and accuracy of the U.S. immigration enforcement system. This episode is especially significant in light of the Trump administration’s ongoing crackdown on undocumented immigrants.
