If you’ve ever felt trapped inside yourself, this is the reminder that the key has always been in your hands.

I originally wrote and released this piece in 2021.

It came from a moment where I was trying to journal and had nothing to say… which usually means there’s too much to say.

Too many emotions layered on top of each other.

Too many things happening in the world at once.

Too many people feeling everything and unsure where to put it.

This poem came from that place.

From the anger, the sadness, the confusion, the frustration…

and underneath all of it, the desire to be heard.

Key to Me is a spoken word poem about emotional expression, mental health, patriarchy, trauma, and the weight we all carry when the world feels overwhelming.

But it’s also about empowerment. The moment you realize the “lock” you’ve been trying to open was never actually locked at all.

For most of my life, I felt trapped inside a version of myself I didn’t know how to escape.

A prison of my own creation.

A cell I didn’t know I had the power to open.

This poem was the moment I remembered:

the key was never out there.

The key was always in me.
