Today I want to share some of the big dangers and side effects with Herceptin and give you 2 other choices when it comes to medicine.

Herceptin is a prescription drug for cancer if it's located in the stomach, esophagus or in the breasts. It works by being injected in the blood stream once a week or once every 3 weeks.

The million dollar question is does it work?

According to WebMd a study found that adding a year of this drug to standard chemotherapy improved a persons chance of not dying by 37 percent. The addition of this drug also improved a 10 year overall survival rates from 75 percent to 84 percent.

It can help a person not die from these types of cancers and that is good. Of course with all drugs there is a cost. I'm not talking about money, I'm talking side effects and health dangers.

Herceptin works by blocking signals that tell cancer cells to grow. The bad news is that other cells besides cancer get effected.

Researchers at the Salt Institute have shown that Herceptin damages a gene called erbB2 which connects to the heart and lungs and thus damaging those organs. That isn't good.

There was a study at the Journal of the American College of Cardiology that for every 100 people that took this drug 32 received heart problems. 42 received heart problems when combined with Anthrocyclines.

Plus around 40% of people that take this drug receive flu like side effects such as a fever, muscle pains and nausea. The drug is very expensive and releases free radicals as it breaks down in the body.

Let's talk about a few other options and the truth is there are tons.

For example there is black cumin seeds and these seeds do so many wonderful things for health. With cancer there are tons of studies showing it can kill it.

For example in the Journal of Medical and Biological Research scientists created cancer tumors in rats and half where given black cumin seeds. After 30 days the group of rats that didn't receive black cumin seeds had tumors the size of about 2.5 centimeters. The group of rats that received black cumin seeds experienced tumors that were two-tenths of a centimeter. That is a big difference.

Another treatment idea is probitoics for your gut. 80% of your immune system is in your gut so it makes sense.

In a study by the United States National Library of Medicine researchers gave kefir, which is a milk that has probiotics to mice with breast cancer. The result was that the mice had a delayed tumor growth and an increased number of cancer cells that died off. Even better news Is there is something called prebiotics which studies show to be 10 times more effective than probiotics.

They even have supplements that combine many of these herbs. Plus there are lifestyle changes that has been shown to fight off cancer.
