Sleigh Ride is a Christmas standard composed by Leroy Anderson in 1948. Lyrics for the instrumental were written by Mitchell Parish in 1950. The orchestral version was first recorded by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra in 1950. It has been covered by The Ronettes for Phil Spector's A Christmas Gift for You album in 1963. Johnny Mathis, Ella Fitzgerald, Andy Williams, and the Carpenters have all sung it on their Christmas albums, but the version I really enjoyed the most was the instrumental one by The Ventures on their 1965 Christmas album. They recorded the song over their hit, Walk Don't Run, and it this rendition that I do here.
