The following is the recorded Taps Ceremony as part of the Funeral procession of my Grandfather Joseph McCrain Jr. May 9th 1935 to July 6th, 2024. Video credit goes to Jennifer Fleissner Porter.

Joseph McCrain served as an Airman 2nd Class in the United States Air Force. He served in the 374th Aircraft Field Maintenance Squadron nicknamed the "Busy Beavers." Joseph served an 18 month tour in Japan during the postwar years following the Second World War. Joseph would later go on to have a career as an aircraft mechanic, and quality control inspector for the Fairchild Aerospace and Aircraft Manufacturing Company based out of Farmingdale, New York. Subsequently, Joseph transferred into the same position for Parker Hannifin in Hauppauge. Joseph's post Air Force career lasted a total of thirty-seven years. 

Joseph is survived by his loving wife Joyce McCrain, his three children Joseph, Joyce, Jerard, his seven grandchildren Joey, Melissa, Kevin, Ryan, Kristen, Sean, and Aiden and last but not least his Great Grand-Daughter Morgan.

Joseph's spirit and memory will live on life everlasting. On Tuesday July 16th, 2024 he was interred at Calverton National Cemetery, section 51A on Long Island, New York.

Historically, each Memorial Day Joseph would place down American flags at Calverton National Cemetery section 66. Joseph would often be one of the few individuals to make the effort to retrieve the flags the following weekend with members of BSA Troop 64, Coram, NY.


Epilogue to the Obituary & Eulogy:

For the guy who taught me to shave, a lesson I hadn't learned apparently.

A reading from Matthew 25 Section 35-40 of the New Century Version

35 I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink. I was alone and away from home, and you invited me into your house. 

36 I was without clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then the good people will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you food, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 

38 When did we see you alone and away from home and invite you into our house? When did we see you without clothes and give you something to wear? 

39 When did we see you sick or in prison and care for you?’

40 “Then the King will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, anything you did for even the least of my people here, you also did for me.’

Amen.

Grandpa Joe was the type of guy to rip his shirt off his back and give it to you. He was the type of guy to give you the last dollar in his wallet. He was my Grandfather, my father, and my best friend.

During the day of the Crucifixion of our Lord Yeshua, Christ Jesus, he fell several times. Upon falling for the second time, his mother Mary came to him in order to help him. Our father turned to his mother and said "see mother, I make all things new again."

For that reason, I know that Grandpa is now with him.
