Toy manufacturers from around the world are in New York to show off the hottest, most unusual and downright silliest new toys.

While there is plenty that is new at the 1995 Toy Fair, the old is also expected to sell well this year.

Even New York's finest found themselves acting like children.

And for good reason.

It's time again for the Toy Fair, one of the world's largest exhibitions of what's new in the industry.

And it's clear from what's on offer - nothing is too silly or too ridiculous if it brings in the customers.

The show may be "play time" for the public, but for buyers from around the world, it's serious business.

But that doesn't mean the sales pitches have to be.

There's Doctor Dreadful and his ice cream machine.

He and Igor were busy in their lab promoting the toy, which produces a type of edible concoction resembling Jello.

Kids will probably love eating the Jello worms, although parents may not be looking forward to cleaning up the mess when the wobbly worms get rubbed into the carpet.

There's plenty of new twists on old themes:

A doll that grows flowers when touched by a watering can.

Remote control toys like this motorcycle. Everyone could understand the cycle, but some other toys had people scratching their heads.

"Introducing "Don't Bug Me" the game where kids get revenge against this crazy bug trying to spoil their picnic. "Don't Bug Me" is a 2 to 4 player game for kids 4 to 7. The object of the game is to make sure this bug doesn't get your food and then knock you out of the game".

High tech has certainly found its way into the toy market. This screen is from the toy that no upwardly mobile child should be without.

"Children this is a lap top computer that actually has a lot of features that a real lap top computer has. It has word processing, it has a data bank for 100 names and addresses it has an atlas with 60 maps of countries around the world it has a huge screen with over eight thousand pictures".

Actress Darryl Hannah is busy attempting to break into the game market.

Her new game "Love It or Hate It" is supposed to be the hottest new game for adults.

"It's a social interaction game that helps you test your intuition and it's a lot of fun and it's a kind of a "get to know your game or get to know your friends better"

We're not quite sure how the game is played, but the star is convinced adults around the world will give it a spin.

Other toys were more traditional.

While the adults were looking at the hi-tech toys, the kids were happy to just monkey around.

It just goes to show that newfangled technology and flashing lights aren't always what youngsters really want. Old fashioned and cuddly are still what appeal to many children.
