The design of the Spain Pavilion is based on the Kuroshio Current. It highlights how Spain and Japan have been connected, for centuries, by this powerful invisible current. The visitor's immersive experience drinks from the two great elements that make up the building, the sun and the ocean which, apparently calm on its façade, presents a reflected sun, a sunrise or sunset, the two parts of this sun that symbolise Spain and Japan (East and West) twinned at the same moment. This contact of the sun with the ocean and this apparent tranquillity enclose beneath it a complex system of underwater currents that are the main engine regulating the balance of the planet, and which constitute the exhibition contents. The overall experience, from the moment the visitor enters the façade until they reach the exit, is divided into three moments:
• The Sun Square: the waiting area represents the sun reflected in the water, a bright and warm space, animated by audiovisuals and live shows.
• Currents that connect: a dark space in which we sense a series of audiovisual currents that transport us to the depths of the sea, where we will discover content linked to the blue economy and Spain relationship with the sea.
• Greetings from Spain. From the postcard to the post: Our journey ends by taking us to Spain, with an immersive audiovisual space with a festive and colourful character, showing our customs, landscapes and gastronomy.
