Jaén is a municipality of Spain and the capital of the province of Jaén, in the autonomous community of Andalusia.

Spain is the country in the European Union with the highest percentage of olive trees, ahead of Italy and Greece. It has more than 50% of the E.U. Jaén is the Spanish province with the largest area of olive groves with almost 600,000 hectares, In the entire province we can find more than 70 million olive trees. In terms of production, Spain produces around 40% of the world's oil production and Jaén alone produces 20% of the world's olive oil.

With a hot-summer Mediterranean climate and despite its inland location, at an altitude around 600 metres (2,000 ft), Jaén barely gets 1 snowy day and just 3 days with lows under 0 °C (32 °F) every year.

With a population of over 620 thousand (December of 2022) and a surface of over 424 square kilometers, Jaén city is a very beautiful one to live in.

Beside Castillo de Santa Catalina de Jaén, The Cathedral of Jaén is one of the most important Renaissance-style cathedrals. Construction began in 1570 and was completed in 1802.
