It is a revision of the beta 52 but the fact is they sound so much alike that it is hard to detect a difference between the two models. The main difference is an improved design of the mic clip.

This microphone built by Shure delivers the high frequency response that is custom built to highlight the kick drum. It is built to enhance bass instruments.

The Shure 52 and the Shure 52A is a high-output dynamic microphone that uses a modified cardioid pattern to deliver the perfect level of punch and attack.

The Shure beta 52a microphone delivers amazing sound even at high SPL. It is built to deliver high gain before any feedback and does a great job of rejecting unwanted noise.

The frequency of the Sm52 microphone is designed specifically for the kick drum and other bass instruments. Shure beta 52 frequency response is well known for handling high pressure levels.

Shure is legendary for creating equipment that is not only reliable but that delivers the perfect sound and they did not misstep with the beta 52a kick drum mic.

Built in Stand Adapter

The Shure beta52 comes complete with a stand adaptor. The locking adapter is outfitted with an integrated XLR connection. This makes setup easy inside the drum.

That means right out of the box you are ready to get to work, and do not have to spend time figuring out setup configurations.

The Mesh Grill

The beta52 mic comes with a hardened steel grill. The grill delivers the durability that you want in a mic especially one that is going to be used with a kick drum.

The grill looks like it can take a lot of abuse and wear and tear.

The Shock Mount System

The advanced mount system helps to keep vibration and unwanted noise down. The pneumatic mount helps to keep the mic steady and ready to capture only the sound that you want.

The mount system complements the Neodymium magnet.

The Neodymium magnet delivers a high signal ratio output. Another thing we liked about the beta 51A kick drum mic is the low sensitivity to load impedance.

What you won’t find on the Beta52A is an output transformer.

It instead of an output transformer has a passive EQ. There are 2 capacitors, a resistor, and an inductor. It all comes together to deliver the perfect studio sound.

The mic ships with a storage case for easy travels.

Shure Quality is Hard to Beat

The beta52A did not deliver any surprises. It worked exactly as you would expect a mic from Shure to work. It exceeded expectations.

This may be the ideal kick drum mic, if you go by the number of musicians that use it for their studio time.

There is no way they can improve upon this mic, of course, Shure will figure something out, looking forward to testing the Shure Beta52B someday.
