This lecture traces the evolutionary journey of the vertebrate heart—from the 2-chambered heart of fishes, to the 3-chambered amphibian/reptilian heart, and finally the highly efficient 4-chambered heart of birds and mammals. The session explains how structural complexity improved oxygenation, metabolism, thermoregulation, and systemic efficiency across evolution.

A detailed study of the human (mammalian) heart is then presented, covering its chambers, valves, blood flow pathway, conduction system, pressure differences, and functional distinctions between the right and left sides.It also explains major clinical interventions such as coronary angiography, angioplasty (stent placement), and CABG bypass surgery with clear, conceptual understanding.
