The rotation180° Panorama from MindShift is a terrific photo backpack for landscape and macro shooters that is capable of longer day trips into the backcountry. This little pack (weighs in under 3 pounds and a total volume of 22 liters) features an integrated beltpack to rapidly access your gear by rotating around your waist. This eliminates the need to take off the pack to get at your gear. While this feature is completely innovative, the size the beltpack is too small for larger lenses or a DSLR with an attached battery grip. I carry my Nikon D7100 with an attached 18-140mm Nikkor and the Sigma 10-20mm beside the camera in the beltpack. A slim pocket in the beltpack is perfect for storing a filter kit or Apple iPad mini.

MindShift sent me the optional Panorama Photo Insert for the top compartment. This is, in my opinion, not optional...you can more than double the photographic gear carrying capacity.

The materials used the construction of the pack are of high quality and durability. The exterior nylon is tough without being overly bulky. The YKK zippers have always worked, even through mud and crud. I have been using the rotation180° Panorama this entire past summer and covered a buttload of miles, and there are no signs of wear or damage.

You can carry a tripod using the built tripod harness system that allows for the attachment of a compressed and folded tripod to the back of the bag. However, with an attached gimbal head, you risk a few whacks in the cranium.

The side pocket is designed specifically to accommodate a 2 liter water bladder, which is wishful thinking if you intend to fully fill of the container. A 3/4 filled bladder does fit well, and we know that a hydrated photographer is a happy photographer.

If you want to carry a smaller camera kit into the backcountry, the MindShift rotation180° Panorama is a perfect pack for you, but you are looking to carry big glass, this backpack is not designed to accommodate the big guns.
