In September 2023, my husband suffered a massive brain bleed and came incredibly close to losing his life. After three weeks in the ICU and three more in inpatient rehab, we weren't sure what the future would hold. But by February 2024, he was well enough for our first big trip together—a milestone filled with emotion and gratitude.

One of our most memorable stops was the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, Florida. This beautiful drive-through nature preserve offers plenty of peaceful spots to pull over, observe wildlife, and just soak in the serenity. I found myself returning again and again—it was a truly healing experience.
