(31 Aug 2015) Hundreds of migrants and refugees crossed into Hungary from Serbia under the cover of darkness late on Monday.
Among the groups of Syrians, Afghans and Kurds arriving at the border was a 25-year-old Rohingya Muslim from Myanmar.
Serajul "Shakil" Islam said he'd travelled more than 10,000 kilometres (6,500 miles) on his two-year journey from Bangladesh.
When he was four, Islam's family fled Myanmar, along with many others from the country's persecuted Muslim minority.
The Rohingya people are denied citizenship by the Myanmar rulers.
For the past two decades, Islam's family lived as refugees, without a proper home, in southeast Bangladesh.
Two years ago, Islam set off on his journey to the West, via India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Turkey and Greece.
He said he had several jobs, to enable him to pay several thousand euros to people smugglers and drivers.
But this meant that, to his great shame, he was unable to send money back home to his mother and siblings.
Islam said his worst experience was in Greece, where he said he and other migrants were made to feel unwelcome.
He said he had hoped to settle in Greece, but decided to move on after being badly beaten by a group of people.
Having reached Hungary, Islam said he hoped to travel on to his end destination, Germany.
