திருப்பாவை என்பது பன்னிரண்டு வைணவ ஆழ்வார்களில் ஒருவரான ஆண்டாள் பாடிய பக்தி நூலாகும்.
முப்பது பாசுரங்களைக் கொண்ட இந்நூல், நாலாயிரத் திவ்வியப் பிரபந்தத்தின் 474–503 வரையிலான பாடல்களாகக் காணப்படுகிறது.
தமிழ் நாட்டில் மார்கழி மாதத்தில் கன்னிப் பெண்கள் பாவை நோன்பு நோற்றனர்.
விடியற்காலையில் எழுந்து நீராடி, இறைவனைப் புகழ்ந்து பாடுவது அந்த வழக்கமாக இருந்தது.
ஆண்டாள் இந்தப் பின்னணியிலே இப்பாசுரங்களை இயற்றினார்.
இன்று வரை மார்கழி மாதம் முழுவதும் கோவில்களிலும் வீடுகளிலும் திருப்பாவை ஓதப்படும் வழக்கம் தொடர்கிறது.

📜 Thiruppavai | Introduction

Thiruppavai is a devotional work composed by Andal, one of the twelve Vaishnavite Alvars.
This work contains 30 Pasurams (verses) and is part of the Naalayira Divya Prabandham, appearing specifically as verses 474–503.
In Tamil Nadu, during the month of Margazhi, young girls traditionally observe the Paavai Nonbu (Thiruppavai fast).
They wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and sing praises of the Lord, following a customary devotional routine.
It was in this context that Andal composed these Pasurams. Even today, the tradition continues, with Thiruppavai being recited in temples and homes throughout the month of Margazhi.
