Join us for a special live-stream event with filmmakers Muhammad Nour-Elkhairy, Razan AlSalah, Rana Nazzal Hamadeh and Serene Husni (streaming and in discussion), as well as Rehab Nazzal (streaming).
FLUID FRAMES FROM THE PALESTINIAN DIASPORA showcases work from Palestinian filmmakers based in the country known as Canada. This program of provocative films visualizes displacement while exploring the paradox of simultaneously being temporary and permanent as a refugee, the distress Palestinians face from the refusal of right of return to their homeland and the bitter irony of living inside Canada’s settler-colonial state as survivors of settler colonialism themselves.
💬 DISCUSSION: A zoom webinar with the filmmakers will be held on Monday, March 22nd at 7PM EST (link in description & here: http://bit.ly/fluid-frames-palestinian-3)
📽️ STREAMING: The film program will be available to stream on Vimeo from Friday, March 19th at 12pm until Wednesday, March 24th at 11:59pm (ET).
This event is part of Israeli Apartheid Week - Montréal, and is co-presented with the Toronto Palestine Film Festival (TPFF) 🇵🇸.

📽️ I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT / Muhammad Nour-Elkhairy / 2017 / 4'
I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT is a close up of a computer screen onto which someone is typing and editing text on a word-processing software. The process of text editing turns a simple desire to travel, into a complex paragraph that is soundtracked by the anxiety of having to deal with racist travel visas, immigration policies and the realities of settler colonialism. Complicating a simple desire by adding the social, cultural and political realities of being a Palestinian.

📽️ P IS FOR PALESTINE / Muhammad Nour-Elkhairy / 2018 / 3'
P IS FOR PALESTINE shows an unnamed man in Amman, Jordan repeating difficult and politically-charged English words as he waits in an unknown ‘green room’. These decontextualized political words all include the letter P - a letter that doesn't exist in the Arabic language and pronouncing it is coded socially and economically. Instead of practising the content of his political speech, the man is practising his pronunciation, reducing politics to a su
