Gorilla Shufai Cuddling Up To Mum

A sweet moment when Ozala is lying on her wood wool on a cold sunny day and Shufai joins her by cuddling in to her and I think he's actually nursing. While they are lying there, Biddy has a mad moment and storms from the hut. When she sat back down again, look who comes strolling round the corner. Mr trouble maker, the head gorilla rascal Lope :-) . He sits himself down and has a look at Biddy first, then at Ozala and Shufai. His next move makes me laugh out loud, moving towards Mum and his brother, he looks away while walking as to say I'm not really coming any closer, I'm just taking a stroll. Ozala knows different, she gets up and watch her eyes, the look she is giving Lope says it all. Shufai is still glued to mums teat. Lope must of heard something moving, as dad is suddenly there on the other side of the hut and Biddy moving away. Lope seems to have given up annoying his mum and brother and casually doing his upright walk past Oumbi the Silverback. Of course not forgetting that great arm swing of Lope and a last glance at his dad before he goes inside.
The gorilla current family at Twycross consists of 6 members, which are Oumbi, Ozala, Biddy, Asante, Lope and Shufai
Oumbi ( 30 June 1992) Sons : Okanda 17 Apr 2011 Hand raised now at München Hellabrunn Germany)
Lope ( 3rd Jan 2013) and Shufai (24th Sep 2016) both born at Twycross Zoo in England and they are still at the Zoo.
Ozala (19 Mar 1994) , she had four sons and one daughter. Ozalas first mate was Ti . Ozala and Ti had Matadi on the 25th May 2003. Then they had their daughter Ndoki on the 3rd of May 2007, but she sadly died on the 29th Aug 2007, unknown cause.
Matadi is at the Antwerp Zoo in Belgium with his mate Mayani and they recently had a baby girl called Thandie! ( Don't miss the footage on this channel)
Ti died in 26 Feb 2007, the cause of it was a stroke. Oumbi got moved to Twycross Zoo in 2009 to mate with the females. Ozala was Oumbi chosen mate.
Asante (6th Jun 1985) is Ozalas half sister. She hasn’t got any offspring.
Biddy is Ozalas Mum as she was born in the wild during 1973, there is no record of siblings or parents. Her offspring’s are Mambie and Ozala.
