Learn (or Teach) PIANO Chords Fast!

I've found that you can let students decide what music they want to play without letting them decide what they get to learn. In my studio, I create 95% of the materials used by students. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it!

One of the most significant benefits you lose when abandoning the method books is the linear process. If you are going to allow your students the freedom to choose material that interests them, you need to build an incredibly solid foundation, deeply rooted in theory!

I am sharing the first two things I will bring to a student upon exiting the method books:

• 5th Challenge
• Triad Tower - Major & Minor Tridas in Root Position (4 Groups of 3)

There is no groundbreaking theory here; it's 5ths and Triads. However, the way I introduce this allows my students to assimilate the knowledge very quickly and make it a part of their musical DNA. It also dramatically enhances our level of communication when beginning to work on the songs they love!
