Rebuild of Jaguar Etype engine? Be careful !

Описание к видео Rebuild of Jaguar Etype engine? Be careful !

Rescue of a Jaguar 4.2 E type 2+2 engine from an amateur rebuild. The video shows what I had to do to remediate an amateur rebuild from a supposed professional!
In this video I take you through issues and what I did to remediate them. After my customer had spent £12,000 to have the engine rebuilt

After the rebuild the No 5 liner fell out smashed oil pump on the way to the sump! The crankshaft not reground. The Crankshaft damper key was loose, and the cylinder head valve guides worn. The
Valve seats worn, and the wrong diameter tappet shims fitted. To top this all off the builders had claimed that a rear lip seal crank conversion had been done when in fact it hadn’t!

All in all, this added up to a very costly very poor quality rebuild, the initial re-build cost my customer over £12,000. In the end what I had to do was strip down the customers own 420 block, re-bored it and used it to rebuild a good engine.

NOTE: After uploading this video I noticed that the sound of the engine runing makes it sound like the engine is tapping. This wasnt the case!
