Denise has been a member of The Art of Selling Art for a year +. We're discussing selling art and the importance of following up with potential collectors, the fear and resistance about doing so, and overcoming all that with the facts.

From Denise:

In April I exhibited at the Interior Design Show in Toronto which was all in all in investment of about $5000 CAD. I did not make any sales during the show but I there was this one guy who was interested in a large commission piece. He was a fellow exhibitor and visited my booth every day during the show, on Sunday he even brought his wife to see the work so I know he was interested.

I got his contact information and followed up with him via text.

Every time I knew I was going to Toronto I would contact him to ask him to meet so we could take the pictures we needed for the commission piece but he kept throwing me excuses.

We went back and forth for months.

In early September he told me he wanted to postpone the commission until 2023.

I thought that that was it, he had changed his mind. But, I still invited him to the opening of my solo exhibition on October 6th, you never know right?

He attended the opening, with his wife and his daughter. I think the opportunity to spend some time with the work made all the difference, especially for his wife because at the end of the night he pulled me aside, pointed to a large 40"x60" and said, that's the size we want let's get together when you come back to Toronto in November to take those photo's.

In November he invited me to his home, we took the photos and he paid me $2000 in cash and we're working on finalizing the composition now :)
