In a tense bond hearing, the court reviewed the disturbing details surrounding the case of 21-year-old Victoria Tippett, accused of helping cover up the death and disposal of Jessica Barnes. Tippett faces charges of obstruction of justice, misprision of a felony, and accessory after the fact to murder. She is one of three co-defendants, alongside Brandon Barnes — charged with murder — and Kendall Mimms.

Prosecutors described a chilling timeline: Jessica Barnes vanished around August 1–2, 2024. GPS data from vehicles tied to the defendants led investigators to a remote area on Twin Lakes Road, where human remains were found in a burn pile. Surveillance footage and store receipts allegedly show the trio buying shovels, cleaning agents, and other supplies believed to have been used to dispose of the body and clean a residence in Pendleton.

Investigators say Tippett was inside the home when the killing happened, and later gave shifting accounts — first claiming Jessica walked away, then saying she had taken her own life, and finally describing an altercation that she claimed led to Jessica’s death.

In court, Jessica’s mother, Cecilia Bambara, gave a heartbreaking plea urging the judge to deny bond, describing the overwhelming grief her family continues to carry.

The defense pushed back, pointing to Tippett’s age, clean criminal history, claims that she suffered abuse from Brandon Barnes, and a psychological report stating she is not a risk to the public. They argued she should receive the same opportunity for bond that co-defendant Mimms received.

However, the judge emphasized serious concerns about Tippett’s involvement, her presence during the killing, and her travel across state lines after the incident — ultimately concluding she posed too great a risk for release.
