The military''s official news agencies are at the front line of Taiwan''s fight against the coronavirus. On Monday President Tsai Ing-wen visited the headquarters of the Military News Agency and Youth Daily News to thank journalists for their work. During Taiwan''s evacuation flights out of Wuhan, officers at these agencies had strapped on protective gear to cover the news. Their photographs were picked up by outlets around the world, giving the international community a glimpse into Taiwan''s campaign against COVID-19. On Monday, President Tsai thanked the military''s news team. She is the first standing president to visit the Military News Agency since its founding 74 years ago. At the office, she was greeted with a handmade card from a military reporter who survived the Black Hawk helicopter crash in January this year.
