The Cold War: Toughest: Soviets: 3) Suez Canal

According to the strategic advisor, they recommend to grabbing the Suez Canal to deal a blow to the Americans, so off I go.

This is the exact same scenario as encounter with the Americans.

Initially, you team up with the Egyptian government (blue) to wipe out the rebels (purple), however you are actually here to do the opposite (wipe out blue and help purple. You will be prompted within 1-2 minutes to make a choice to come out in the open about the alliance, making this an easy 2v1, but raising the DEFCON meter. Or you can tough it out. Most likely the rebels will be wiped out and once again you will be prompted to leave. I haven't seen them suddenly out themselves so if they do, let me know in the comments!

Once the rebels are wiped out, blue will send their thanks and ask for their cities back. You can give them back, lose the Egyptian territory but get 100 tribute and an oath of fealty card, you can lose the territory and ask them to help stage a coup in Central Africa (not worth it in my opinion) or refuse and eliminate them to grab Egypt.

Anywho, begin by plonking down a city. You can move your army across the channel if you want but be careful of naval units that may intercept you.

It's best to let purple and blue slug it out for a bit while you build up and expand. Feel free to grab purple's newer cities to help contain them and slowly chip away at their bigger cities. There's no major rush to eliminate purple quickly.

Once your economy is strong and you have a decent army, then put purple out of the game. Assuming you won't take the rewards blue will offer, you'll then be in a good position to take on blue. With a strong map position, economy and military, blue should not be much of a threat.

From this point, focus on capturing one city at a time and blue should eventually crumble. Air, sea, land and missiles can all work here with a large open map, so blue shouldn't be too hard to pick apart.

Conquer purple and blue to win the scenario!

Tips:
- going out to sea will help early with the food and wealth. Blocking the channels with cruisers or subs will help stop enemy units from moving around so easily.
- take time building up the economy. There's no rush to eliminate purple.
- grab the smaller undefended cities to help contain purple or blue and boost your economy quicker.
