Tansania, Februar 2026, Highlights rund um den Mount Meru und den Kilimanjaro, Arusha Nationalpark, Tarangire, Maasai Land.

Ich hatte für meinen Aufenthalt die Meru Mbega Lodge bei Usa River, direkt am Arusha Nationalpark gewählt. Dies war mein fester Standort, von wo aus ich Tageausflüge unternahm.
Das ist etwa 1 Stunde Fahrzeit vom Kilimanjaro Airport. Die Lodge hat mich dort abgeholt und auch wieder hin gebracht.
Die Tageausflüge:
Arusha Nationalpark: Eintritt incl. Ranger für die Walkingsafari 323000 Tanzania Shilling = ca 108€.
An einem Tag kann man so ziemlich den ganzen Park besuchen.
Napuru Wasserfall: Eintritt 40600TZS = ca 14€ + ca 30 US Dollar für den Guide.
Kilimanjaro: Eintritt 287000 TZS + 50000TZS für den Guide. = ca 112€
Tarangire: Die Fahrt habe ich in einer Gruppe gemacht, es wurde ein Gesamtpreis für Fahrt + Parkgebühren berechnet in Höhe von 167 US Dollar pro Person. Die Parkgebühren sind wohl ähnlich, wie im Arusha Nationalpark.
Die Fahrradtour in den Affenwald war ein Spezialangebot meiner Lodge, für mich 😊.
Man kann in Tansania als Tourist nicht viel alleine machen. Für die meisten Aktivitäten muss man einen Guide oder Ranger und/oder einen Träger mitnehmen.
Die Kosten für das Fahrzeug + Fahrer kann man natürlich reduzieren, wenn man mit mehreren Leuten zusammen fährt. Ich war meistens alleine, was mir dann absolute Freiheit gab, das zu besuchen und zu sehen, was ich möchte. Dafür musste ich dann halt das Fahrzeug alleine bezahlen. Sie lagen je nach Entfernung meist zwischen 100 und 200€ pro Tag.
Fahrstrecken/-Zeiten: Man muss für eine Strecke von 100 Kilometer mindestens 2,5 Stunden Fahrzeit einplanen, in Arusha mehr. Für die rund 140 Kilometer zum Tarangire Nationalpark brauchten wir z.B. gut 3,5 Stunden. (die 2:40, die Google angibt sind absolute Utopie).
Der Ausflug nach Tingatinga und Mount Longido ist etwas besonderes. Da kennt sich kaum jemand aus, wir haben uns bei den Maasai durchgefragt 😁.

Here's some information:
For my stay, I chose the Meru Mbega Lodge near Usa River, right next to Arusha National Park. This was my base from where I took day trips.
It's about an hour's drive from Kilimanjaro Airport. The lodge picked me up and dropped me off there as well.
The day trips:
Arusha National Park: Entrance fee including ranger for the walking safari: 323,000 Tanzanian Shillings (approx. €108).
You can visit pretty much the entire park in one day.
Napuru Waterfall: Entrance fee: 40,600 TZS (approx. €14) + approx. US$30 for the guide.
Kilimanjaro: Entrance fee: 287,000 TZS + 50,000 TZS for the guide = approx. €112.
Tarangire: I took the trip as part of a group; the total price for the trip and park entrance fees was US$167 per person. The park entrance fees are probably similar to those in Arusha National Park.
The bike tour to the monkey forest was a special offer from my lodge, just for me 😀.
As a tourist, you can't do much on your own in Tanzania. For most activities, you need a guide or ranger and/or a porter.
Of course, you can reduce the cost of the vehicle and driver by traveling with a group. I was usually alone, which gave me complete freedom to visit and see whatever I wanted. Of course, I had to pay for the vehicle myself. Depending on the distance, the costs were usually between €100 and €200 per day.
Driving distances/times: You should plan for at least 2.5 hours of driving time for a 100-kilometer trip, and even more in Arusha. For example, the approximately 140 kilometers to Tarangire National Park took us a good 3.5 hours. (The 2:40 that Google suggests is completely unrealistic.)
The trip to Tingatinga and Mount Longido is something special. Hardly anyone knows anything about it; we asked around among the Maasai 😁.
