The Kennedy Weekend Market in Cuenca.

This video is the after talk with Stacey and Ajay, and a walk through of what it looks like to shop for a healing week when you live in a place where food is fresh, affordable, joyful, and grown the way food is supposed to be grown.

We gathered coconut water straight from the coconut, banana leaves for our buffet table, hibiscus (sorrel) for tea, guayusa for energy, dragon fruit, papaya, cherimoya, bell peppers bigger than your face, giant heads of lettuce, fresh mushrooms, seafood, herbs, flowers from the little lady I always buy from, and 15 pounds of cheese because we have 100 sandwiches to make for a project this week.
But what really stood out wasn’t just the food.

It was the feeling.
The kindness of the vendors.
The peace of the space.
The dogs calmly doing their job.
The old women offering herbal remedies for Carnival.
Fresh juice for $1.50.
Corn and cheese tortillas made from ground choclo.
Coffee. Ice cream. Laughter. Conversation.
This wasn’t just grocery shopping. It was a communal experience.
