🚪 THE PRACTICE: CHECKING YOUR MEZUZOT
MEZUZAH (plural: mezuzot) = small case containing handwritten parchment scroll affixed to doorpost of every Jewish home.
The scroll contains two passages from Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21) including the SHEMA prayer - the central declaration of Jewish faith: "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One."
Mezuzah fulfills biblical commandment: "Write these words upon the DOORPOSTS of your house and upon your gates."
But mezuzah is FAR MORE than religious symbol or decoration.

📜 WHAT MAKES MEZUZAH INVALID (PASUL)?
Scroll must be HANDWRITTEN by trained scribe (sofer) on parchment from kosher animal skin. Scribe must be observant of Jewish law, write with specific consciousness and intention.
Every letter must be formed PERFECTLY according to exact specifications passed down for thousands of years.
MEZUZAH BECOMES INVALID IF:
Even SINGLE letter is malformed
Letters TOUCH each other when they shouldn't
Ink FADES so letters no longer clearly legible
Parchment gets DAMAGED (moisture, cracks, tears)
INVALID MEZUZAH not only FAILS to provide protection and blessing - it creates the OPPOSITE. Creates BREACH in spiritual boundary of your home.
Like having security system you THINK is working but it's actually MALFUNCTIONING and you don't know it. Living with FALSE CONFIDENCE thinking you're protected when actually you're VULNERABLE.

📋 JEWISH LAW REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM: Mezuzot must be checked TWICE every 7 YEARS (baseline legal requirement).
