Hopped on the tube to Sloane Square for a flying, festive visit to one of my favourite department stores, Peter Jones.

I wanted to show you the Christmas shop on the ground floor and then up the escalators to see the 6 storey high glass atrium, decorated in all it’s Christmassy glory before I met a friend for lunch at The Phene (a pub nearby which features in the TV reality show Made in Chelsea. It is a cosy with great food and service and a beautiful, leafy terrace for when the weather is being kind to us).

As you exit Sloane Square station, Peter Jones sits opposite at the start of the King’s Road.

This area has been a mecca for fashion and glamour since it was built in the 1930’s but most famously during the 1960’s, models, rock stars and footballers really put it on the map. I love this shop because it feels like the calm, practical sibling of the super-busy stores along Oxford Street and Knightsbridge.

Compared to the big-hitters (and sometimes only they will do!) Peter Jones, and especially it’s top floor café, feel like an oasis of calm above the King’s Road.

The view from the café’s glass wall looks across the rooftops to the beautiful dome of The Royal Albert Hall, The Victoria and Albert Museum and The Natural History Museum.

So please enjoy my flying visit to one of Chelsea’s best-kept secrets. And if you go there yourself and see a West End Girl with a cappuccino daydreaming over the rooftops, it might just be me.
