This milestone makes Adele the first person from the Diocese of Green Bay to enter the formal path to sainthood and highlights her extraordinary life as the visionary behind the only Church-approved Marian apparition in the United States: Our Lady of Champion in Champion, Wisconsin.

In 1859, Belgian immigrant Adele Brise reported three apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the woods near Champion. Mary, appearing as the Queen of Heaven, instructed Adele to teach the faith to children and sinners in "this wild country." Adele devoted her life to this mission as a dedicated catechist, traveling on foot, building a chapel, and remaining faithful amid hardships like poverty and the 1871 Peshtigo fire that spared the apparition site. Bishop Ricken approved the apparitions as "worthy of belief" in 2010, establishing the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion as a major pilgrimage destination in the United States.

Now titled “Servant of God”, Adele's cause begins the diocesan investigation phase. A tribunal will examine her life for heroic virtue, gather historical documents, and collect testimonies from witnesses—past and present—about her holiness, graces received, or favors through her intercession (including potential miracles needed for beatification and canonization).
