Day is December 30th 2016. Good weather means go outside. The village of Erto has some great (and kinda sad) history of the Vajont dam that was built there between 1957 and 1960. The biggest dam in the world at the time.
Later just before the dam was officially opened there was a colossal landslide where over a 3 mile peace of the mountain collapsed into the lake causing one of the largest waves ever recored in human history. The wave was over 820 ft tall and killed approximately 2000 people in 15 minutes.
Some of the damage is still visible in the old town.
