When only the yolk is formed in the ovary, if a hen mates with a rooster and the sperm fertilizes the egg, it becomes a fertile egg.
If the egg develops without fertilization, it is considered an infertile egg.

So, No matter how long you incubate an infertile egg, a chick will not hatch.
