INFO
Since 2006 The Bartenders are the leading Polish aficionados of Jamaican ska-jazz in Poland, critically acclaimed both in Poland and abroad. They released five LP's and EP's, some of their songs topped Polish radio charts and they performed at numerous important local and foreign ska & reggae festivals - both with their own sets and as a backing band for Polish and international stars, like German ska legend Dr. Ring Ding. There is certainly no better ska-jazz group in Poland - and within the genre The Bartenders are also a well-known name around the World.
Online concert of The Bartenders, presented at Jarasum Jazz Festival 2020, is a special one-time show, originally prepared for Warsaw Uprising Museum. The concert presents ska-jazz versions of songs using Warsaw dialect of Polish language, which was almost completely lost during World War II - when occupying forces of Nazi Germany wiped out or displaced the majority of pre-war Warsaw citizens. Luckily, some parts of the dialect survived, and some post-war artists made it their goal to keep it alive. The presented concert cherishes their efforts, and shows a creative way of presenting this cultural heritage of the past in a form that's attractive for the modern public.
The set of MC's and vocalists, performing with The Bartenders during the presented concert, is a colourful cross-genre all-star crowd, unified by the love of Warsaw. From local hip-hop legends Eldo (Grammatik) and Duże Pe (Masala Soundsystem), through Warsaw-loving actor and entertainer Kuba Kozak to local reggae / dancehall legend Gorg (Vavamuffin) and last but not least - The Bartenders own vocalist Kuba Kaczmarek. All of them sing and play their hearts out on stage - and thanks to this the climate of Old Warsaw is definitely in the air during this show.
