The trial in Assamese music icon Zubeen Garg’s death case has formally begun, with all seven accused appearing virtually before the Kamrup court as proceedings opened on serious charges including murder, criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. Zubeen’s sister was present in court for the first hearing and told media outside that she fully trusts the judiciary and is hopeful that the legal process will finally bring justice for her brother. The court has fixed January 3, 2026, as the next date of hearing, when charges are expected to be further argued and evidence sequencing discussed.
