→ Join me on yet another quick regional jet flight down the southern California coast! This flight is usually operated by an E175, but on this particular day, it was a CRJ-700. Once the cabin lights dim, the footage begins. We start while pushing back from LAX's gate 86B. LAX is basically dead for departures this time of night (at least, before the midnight redeye push), so the taxi to runway 25R was fairly short and quick. We line up on 25R and power up. Isn't it amazing how much faster the CRJ seems to need to go before lifting off? Versus, say, an E175? Maybe that's just me, but either way, we launch off of LAX turf and head out to sea, turning a few times to the south to align us with San Diego. If you look REALLY, REALLY closely, you'll see a few other planes fly by us during this short 20-minute flight. But you have to have a keen eye. How many did you see? Remaining just off the California coast for a great majority of this flight, you get to see the lights of the coastal towns as we fly past them. Just a short 18 minutes later, we begin our descent into San Diego, flying the downwind approach to runway 27. Once we flip a 180 and line up for runway 27, we see the beautiful lights of downtown San Diego as we fly past. In case you wanna skip ahead, it's at 35:05. But boy, oh boy, this landing was a doozy! We were greeted into San Diego by quite literally FALLING OUT OF THE SKY after flaring a bit too hard and losing airspeed. The video does a terrible job of capturing just how hard this landing was. Imagine what you saw, multiply that by 10, and add a broken tailbone and you got a perfect idea. Jeebus... Nevertheless, every landing you can walk away from was a good one. Anyway, since SAN airport is set up right near the runway, the taxi to gate 42 was short and sweet. I hope you enjoy this quick night flight between Los Angeles and San Diego as much as I did (but not as much as my tailbone), and, as always, all the flight information you could ever desire can be found below!

→ In case you are curious as to why I flew out of Los Angeles and not Burbank... Avelo's delayed flight from Santa Rosa caused me to miss my Southwest connection to San Diego through Sacramento, so I had to get a Lyft to LAX, which took 70 minutes through the deep backroads of Los Angeles. That was creepy. And my driver seemed like a race car driver...
