As per @Johnster 's request, here's video about 5 tips on how to make a Youtube channel trailer that convert more subscribers from your viewers!
in this video I’m going to share you something I’ve concluded that makes a Youtube channel trailer effectively converts your viewers to your subscribers.
Why it matters? In your creator studio, click Analytics and Subscribers, you’ll probably find that, most subscribers are gained on your Channel homepage. That means many viewers might have watched one of your videos and come to your channel to find out what you’re about. At this moment, the channel trailer will play automatically, and they’ll proceed to follow you only if you have a clear answer and exciting reason. Here’re 5 tips to keep in mind.

Tip 1: Show Your Motive
Don’t just show what you do, but why you do it. Let’s say if you’re running a gaming channel, don’t just show some screen recordings of minecraft, GTA or call of duty, but instead, you can tell them this: I always prefer challenges, so I make videos about how to accomplish mission impossible, or I‘m always excited to find out what’s funny in the game so I make videos with my funny commentary, etc. Because there’re millions of other channels making the same type of videos you are making, so what impress the viewers is not what you do, but the one and only purpose or motive behind it. If they believe in what you believe, they’re going to stay tuned. If they don’t, never mind, your wrong target audience is filtered out.
Tip 2: Benefits for Subscribers
Show them what they can get from your channel. To your subscribers, your channel isn’t a place for you, but a place for themselves. So before they subscribe, there’s a voice echoing in their head, can I have some fun watching these videos? Can I learn something useful from your tips? Can I get inspirations from your creativities? So in your trailer, you should make it clear what is beneficial for them to build up a long relationship with your channel.
Tip 3: Past and Future
Show them the best moment of your previous videos, use multiple clips. If you don’t know what were the best moment that impress your viewers, go to your analytics tab and select Audience Retention of a certain clip, this chart will show you how often each moment of your video is being watched and from what particular moment they were attracted instead of leaving your video. Also, I would suggest to tell them your posting schedule or put it in the description, so they know when they should wait to see a new episode in your channel.
Tip 4: Call to Action
Let’s say you have a wonderful trailer, but without a call to action, they might forget to subscribe. You need to remind them to subscribe.
Tip 5: How to Edit a Channel Trailer
Personally, I started with cutting out the best moment clips. Then, I came up with an outline with several chapters telling people my motive, what’s in it for them and arrange those clips in the timeline. Because every channel is different, you might need some unique creativity and storyline, based on your content and your personality. And while editing, you can use text to separate chapters. And just put a pure black background in timeline. Additionally, you can add transition between clips if it’s abrupt to play from one to another. There’re many cool transitions in Filmora. I highly recommend some transition effects in Fashion collection pack. And lastly, choose background music and sound effects to make it more compelling.
