Metal detecting some beautiful old homesteads for treasure! Ep 311

I love metal detecting old homesteads. Sometimes the buildings are there which is so fun to see, but is easy for other metal detectorists to find. Lots of the time these epic historic structures have been detected and you are better off looking for somewhere else to dig. Other times there are few clues that an old homestead existed there and it is easier found from old maps or historic aerials. My favorite way to find an old homestead is to eyeball an old cellar hole or foundation. Many times there is no building or cellar hole that you can see, but there are other clues. Shades trees that seem out of place, apple trees, a spring, or even just old wood, glass or iron on the surface of the ground.
