Todd Snider, "Like a Force of Nature," // GemsOnVHS™

The man, the myth, the legend. This ones another heart stopper for a kid like me. Todd Snider was one of those names you knew loomed large in the outsider-songwriting world in Nashville. When he reached out to talk and play some songs, i'd thought for sure it was a Nigerian prince style scam email. Well, turns out it wasn't, unless this isn't actually Todd Snider, in which case I apologize. I think it is though, and the songs are damn good either way.

We talked for a long while after this. He told me stories of his most recent tour, rambling down the road with another living legend, Ramblin' Jack Elliott. Told me the old boy still gettin' into trouble, chasing girls and smokin' just shy of Willie Nelson levels. He told me how he found Sierra Ferrell busking outside of the venue at one of his shows, heard her sing and immediately brought her back to Nashville some years ago, sure she'd make a hit record. Didn't work out that time around, but look at her now. Really, he's the reason I met her, through some turns of events, and she's the reason i've now met him! Funny, how things work in this small world.

I'll release more of those conversations down the road, but for now here's a song he played for us, Force of Nature, which a little thoughts on his many years on the road and the way that life effects your relationships.
