For our Project Skylane 182 we decided to upgrade the engine monitoring gauges that came with the aircraft. The instrument panel has a gauge cluster with 6 gauges. oil pressure, oil temp, a single cylinder head temp, amperage, and both left and right fuel level gauges. We sent our cluster out a couple years ago to Paul with instrument rebuild in Queen Creek Arizona and he was able to work some magic on our bouncing amperage needle and failing CHT sender. I hear Paul has passed on and I am thankful for the time he spent with me and the knowledge he was willing to share. One of the many things Paul shared with me was that they had spools of the specific wire needed to rewind the winding's on the Cessna gauges and possibly the only one to have the correct wire. When the business is able to reopen this will be a valuable asset to the aviation community.

At the time of the repair on our cluster we had one good fuel sender and one with a dead spot mid range on the other. When we decided to take the engine down for overhaul, it seemed like a good time to upgrade the engine monitoring systems as well. After researching we decided to used JP Instruments EDM-900 primary system. This means we can remove and replace the original equipment! The EDM-900 has a supplemental type certificate that allows us to modify the aircraft with the specific instructions included with the kit. We also decided to couple the EDM-900 with the Cies fuel senders that should give us accuracy like never seen before in general aviation!
