I usually use my PCE-to-GB Magical Chase covers as an excuse to play through the PC engine game again, but this time I felt it was more appropriate to use footage from the GBC version, as you know, it's more fitting to the sound you hear in the video!

And you know, the GBC port of Magical Chase is a mighty impressive one! As you can see in the video, much of the parallax scrolling was kept intact, and although the graphics are noticeably less detailed, they still look the part! Even the gameplay is pretty spot-on, aside from being WAY too easy (this version lacks a "Hard Mode" and even the Normal mode isn't as hard as the original game's Normal Mode...)

The big flaw with this GB port is that the sound is Terrible! While not the worst I've heard on the Game Boy, the music has no bass, there are too many wrong notes in the lead melody, the frequent sound effects cut out half of the instrumentation, and everything is just too high-pitched...
So as I've been doing since I started covering music on the Game Boy, I took it upon myself to cover one of the game's songs to sound as close to the PC engine original as I could get on the Game Boy!
In fact, this particular song was the first one I've ever covered on the system! Too bad I was far from a competent chiptuner back then, so I figured this one needed an overhaul real bad...
